A New Chapter in Tabi Craftsmanship

Named after Itaro Fujiki, founder of MARUGO, ITARO represents a new chapter in our long tradition of tabi footwear craftsmanship.
Bringing together carefully selected materials, a newly developed last, and over a century of expertise, the collection embodies the knowledge and experience accumulated throughout MARUGO's history while looking toward the future of tabi footwear.

Crafted by Hand in Kurashiki

Each pair is carefully made by skilled craftspeople at our factory in Kurashiki, Japan.
The split-toe construction requires specialized techniques and meticulous attention to detail. Every stitch is carefully placed to create a smooth finish and a comfortable fit, reflecting the craftsmanship that has shaped MARUGO's footwear for more than a century.

Encouraging Natural Foot Movement

The split-toe design allows the big toe to move more freely and naturally than in conventional footwear.

Built on Over a Century of Tabi Craftsmanship

Our tabi shoes are built on a last refined through more than 100 years of traditional tabi making.
Designed specifically for the unique shape and function of tabi footwear, this carefully developed last helps provide lasting comfort and a natural fit. It reflects generations of craftsmanship and the knowledge gained from creating footwear inspired by Japan's long tabi tradition.

Crafted from Premium Japanese Leather

The upper is made from carefully selected Japanese leather, chosen for its balance of strength and suppleness.

Comfort from the Inside Out

The lining is made from soft, breathable pigskin leather chosen for its comfort and natural airflow.

Designed for Natural Movement

The outsole is made from a specially formulated rubber compound developed exclusively for this model.
Durable yet flexible, it moves naturally with the foot while providing lasting comfort and support. The original tread pattern delivers reliable traction and stability, helping you maintain confident footing throughout the day.

Finding Your Ideal Fit

For the best wearing experience, we recommend choosing a size that leaves approximately 0.5 to 1.0 cm (0.2 to 0.4 inches) of space in front of the toes.
